Fianaise
Fianaise: traces. An Exploration of Traces, Imprints, Remains. What has been left behind. Suggestions of a presence there before.
Representing the poignant impact left by traces, physically and emotionally, of stories told and conversations had in a pub setting.
I delved into the history The Man on the Bridge Arthur Fields: a photographer who stood on O’Connell Bridge for over 50 years, taking photos of Dubliners for Generations as they passed by.
This was driven by my curiosity about an old photograph I was given of my grandfather at age 16 in 1958. The multi-layered nature of the prints is a representation of the layers of paint peeling back on the lampposts on O’Connell Bridge, an element of the bridge which my grandfather also would have seen the same as I do today.
